Pictures of the Week – Friday, February 10th

Since we (er…Edie) spend a lot of time taking pictures during our travels, we thought we would start a little post to close out the week that shared a few of our favorite shots taken over the past 7 days. The number of pics might change from week to week, depending on how many amazing things we get to see. This week we picked 3.

That’s A Big Skull

First up is a random sculpture we saw along our drive from Lubbock, TX, to Albuquerque, NM. It was HUGE! But it definitely captured the stereotypical desert scene.

So after driving past initially, we turned around to go back and take a picture. Unfortunately there was a barbed wire fence separating us from the skull. It would have been great to get a picture right next to it!

The Open Road

The second shot came as we were driving along a state highway in New Mexico. Scott looked out the rear view mirror and saw this. So we stopped to get a picture.

On our first road trip, we were blown away by the landscape in New Mexico (there was green – it wasn’t all desert!) and all the straight roads in the west that go on for miles. This picture is a great blend of both.

The Sad, Old Puppy

The last shot is of one of the dogs at our current WorkAway site. Sailor Moon is a rescue dog, definitely pretty old.

She has arthritis and walks very slowly through the house, although she manages to muster up a surprising amount of energy for her daily walk (seriously, the highlight of her day!). She is also deaf and possibly has doggy dementia (she walks around looking confused most of the time). But I think anyone would be hard pressed to find a sweeter dog with such perfectly sad puppy dog eyes.
