Cape Lookout State Park Campground (Tillamook, OR)
After Portland, it was back to the beautiful Oregon coast for more camping (before our next little jaunt into the state for a visit to Crater Lake National Park). We picked Cape Lookout State Park in Tillamook, OR for one big reason…it’s near the Tillamook Cheese Factory!
Once again, we picked a campsite right on the coast. Cape Lookout State Park is a few miles west of US-101. Other than the ocean a couple hundred meters away, the only major thing in the area is the Tillamook Cheese Factory just north on US-101, where you can get some of Tillamook’s numerous varieties of delicious cheddar cheese (though you can get these cheaper at local groceries) and have some yummy ice cream.
We had a site with no hookups because the campground was PACKED! There was a community water spigot nearby. The sites with no hookups are $19. If one is available, a site with electric and water hookups is $24.
Since we were only there for a night, we didn’t even take a shower here. The bathrooms weren’t very clean, but they did have hand dryers, even if there was no soap.
Laundry & Wi-Fi
There is no laundry or wi-fi.
All of the campsites we saw were plenty big, but we ended up with a corner spot, so we had enough room to put up 4 tents the size of ours. The sites are surrounded on 3 sides by vegetation offering plenty of privacy.
With an electric hookup, our site would’ve been perfect for a long stay at this campground.
Our site was $19 for no hookups. The price is right in line with everything else we’ve seen over most of the nation. Considering that it’s the Pacific Coast, the price is rather good.
