All Star Cupcakes (Boca Raton, FL)
On our drive from Fort Pierce down to Miami, we decided to take a short trip to Boca Raton so Edie could visit some of her favorite former clients. Since she hated the idea of showing up empty-handed, we decided to find a cupcake shop (come on, who doesn’t love cupcakes?) and pick up a selection before heading over to the clients’ office (that’s right, folks, she’s basically still marketing for her former law firm…but this time on her own dime).
And if we just so happened to pick up a couple extra, well that was just to make sure they were good enough to give as a gift, right?
Google helped us locate a spot along our route called All Star Cupcakes. Luckily the place was open and had a small shop with a good selection of cupcakes. We stopped in, asked the lady behind the counter to pick out her favorite 6 for a box for the clients and then studied the cupcake case further to make our decision.
The clients certainly lucked out – their box contained an M&M cupcake, a red velvet cupcake with holiday garnish, a Smores cupcake, an Oreo cupcake, a vanilla cupcake with holiday garnish, and a chocolate cupcake with a Whopper garnish!
Our Cupcake Choices
After some serious deliberation over the mouth-watering options behind the glass, Scott decided on a chocolate cupcake with chocolate buttercream icing and a chocolate drizzle & Whopper garnish while Edie went with a vanilla poundcake cupcake with vanilla buttercream icing and a white chocolate drizzle & white chocolate chip garnish.
If you have a sweet tooth, these cupcakes will certainly satisfy it! The cake part of the cupcakes were sweet and fairly moist, though with the icing and garnish added in, it was almost overpoweringly sweet. These cupcakes were definitely following the trend of many recent cupcake establishments that create cupcakes in the 1/3 cake to 2/3 icing ratio. The presentation was certainly impressive though – the candy garnish made for a very pretty dessert!
After the $2 awesomeness at Amanda’s Cakery, the $3 cupcakes at All Star Cupcakes were just not quite as good of a deal, though we are clearly discovering that most things in close proximity to a beach in Florida are a bit pricier!
The Doggy Bag, By Knox
I’ve learned on this road trip that when Mommy’s sweet tooth kicks in and Scott has to stop to appease the beast, I somehow always luck out too. This time Mommy shared her vanilla cupcake with me. Sugar – YUM!!! Much to my dismay, Scott made up some BS about dogs not being able to eat chocolate as a way to avoid sharing any of his cupcake with me. That’s okay though – I know where he sleeps.
