A Long Weekend In Chicago
After our blur of a visit to Indiana, we drove a whole 90 minutes to The Windy City to visit a few friends. Since we’ve both been to Chicago numerous times, we’ve done a good bit of the tourist stuff. This was primarily a trip to see two sets of friends that we hadn’t seen in ages and make two new friends that we’d never met before.
We kicked it off by staying with Scott’s grad school friend Doug and his wife Julie (thanks y’all!) and enjoying dinner at a local Italian spot with incredible salads and lemon chicken on Thursday. Friday was spent doing the little bit of touristy stuff that we did, first with an auto tour of downtown Chicago courtesy of Doug, then with a walk around Millenium Park, some lunch, and the trek back to Little Italy.
Saturday, we spent the afternoon chatting and having lunch with Edie’s friend Jen from high school, her husband Tom, and their two little boys. After a fabulous and humongous burrito, we managed to find some stomach room for a little bit of Chicago’s specialty, deep dish pizza. And Sunday, we headed to Wisconsin, but not before spending 3 hours having coffee with Edie’s Dad’s law school friend Mike and his wife Meg (and a few dogs to keep Knox entertained, too!).
The Sights We Saw
It was a whirlwind trip mostly filled with time spent with friends rather than exploring Chicago. That was A-OK with us though. The company was great, the conversation flowed all weekend, and the food was incredible. We did get out and about some though and naturally, we took some pictures.
